19th c. Civil Indian War US Navy sailor tintype embroidered frock blouse bowler

  

Here is a 19th century tintype of a US Navy sailor with embroidered frock blouse showing anchor and stars. He also has a fancy striped silk necktie of the type worn by sailors. The chap sports a bowler, tall riding boots and a cigar. Probably dates to the 1860s or 70s. I'm not sure this is from the Civil War, although the clothing he wears is all accurate to that period.

Measures 2.5 x 3.5. Excellent condition, in period paper mat with some deterioration to backing.
