Ambrotype Of A Civil War Soldier

  

Antique ambrotype of a soldier. I believe it would be from the Civil War. It is on glass and there is actually a second piece of glass that would go over the gold metal border.

The metal frame is worn and there is no case. I see little chips/flea bites on edges of glass. The photo is dark but I was able to photograph the image well. There is some gold painting on the trim of his uniform.

I held it up to the light also so that you can see some spots of image loss from wear. Please note that I just measured it for someone and want to note one thing.

On the right side of the glass the edge was not cut perfectly straight and there is a small sharp point. This Is not a chip and totally does not affect the photo.
