Up for your consideration is this Period CDV Carte De Vista from The War Between The States - American Civil War. The image is of a Confederate Major Reid Sanders. He was an extraordinary man! He was captured while an emissary of the Confederate Government traveling to Europe to ask assistance for the cause. His capture was so important that it was announced in the New York Times. He and his father were very much involved in Confederate diplomacy. This photo is signed and personalized by Reid himself " Faithfully Your Friend Reid Sanders, Fort Warren 8 April 1864" He died of Dysentery a few months later at the age of 27 while incarcerated at Fort Warren. Photo was taken by J W Black in Boston! The image is untrimmed and presents very well and is faded. A really beautiful photo and a wonderful addition to your collection!
