CDV album containing images of 2 soldiers, incl. 12mo 5 1/4 x 6 in. Album (significant wear to covers, front and back covers fully separated at spine, loss to spine and front cover, contents loose, photos are outstanding). Contains 44 CDVs or CDV-sized tintypes of men, women, and children, mostly civilians, with the exception of 2 portraits of Civil War soldiers (very good overall). Many subjects are identified on the album page below the image. The album features 2 portraits of men in Civil War uniform, incl. Corodon Mason, shown seated in a studio. Foster (mount and top/bottom edges of print trimmed).
Mason enlisted as an Assistant Surgeon in March of 1864 and was commissioned into Field & Staff of the US Colored Troops, 32nd Infantry. He mustered out in August of 1865.- Standing view of soldier with hat in hand. Studio imprints from Iowa, New York, and Ohio are included in the album.
Together, 44 CDVs housed in a Civil War-period album. Condition of cartes de visite generally good, with many mounts trimmed.
