Confederate Soldier Civil War 45th Virginia Floyds Brigade Named Tintype

  
Up for your consideration is this wonderful Leather Cased tintype image of a young Confederate soldier of the 45th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment. This was a regiment raised for action in the mountainous area on the border of Virginia and West Virginia.

It was also part of General Jubal Early's army during the Valley Campaigns of 1864. Its first commander was Ex-governor John B. Floyd and the unit was often referred to as Floyds Brigade.

Our soldier is Jos Dilworth of Company B who were known as the Mount Airy Rough and Readys. He is dressed in heavy greatcoat, heavy gloves and a really nice slouch hat. The case is missing the cover but the frame and glass are excellent.

The case is inscribed behind the photo with his personal information and his regimental designations. In the case, the photo is dark and so our first image is in bright light, the second is in natural light, and the third in the case in natural light. It measures 2 by 2 and 1/2 inches.
