Original Carte de Visite (CDV) photograph of 2nd Lt. Cline, who served in Battery H, 6th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (212th PA Vols) during the Civil War. Taken at Johnson's National Gallery, Washington, D. Cline in full uniform, holding his sword, with a hand-tinted purple officer's sash-a striking feature of this photo. Cline enlisted in September 1864, quickly rising to 2nd Lieutenant by December.

His regiment guarded the Orange & Alexandria Railroad and later manned Washington, D. He mustered out on June 13, 1865, and passed away just two years later in 1867. This is a historically significant, identified Civil War officer's portrait, ideal for collectors of Pennsylvania regiments, CDVs, and Union Army history. Good antique condition with light wear and age-related toning. Don't miss this RARE hand-tinted Civil War CDV!
