An original Civil War CDV photo of Captain Adam Gebert of Co. F, Company, 31st Iowa, from Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa. The image is a chestview, he is wearing a 9 button frock coat with rank straps. The image is idd from theLlbrary of Congress, Liljequist Family Collection.

The 31st was a notable Iowa unit, serving 1862-65 campaigning in Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia & the Carolinas. The reverse is pencil IDD and bears the photo imprint of Campbell & Ecker, Louisville, Kentucky, probably 1865 when the men were mustered out.
