Truly one of the most pristine and important family Civil War era photo albums I have ever owned. The album represents the HOLT FAMILY (Milford, New Hampshire) primarily starting with the elder Holt patriarch Samuel Holt. Marquis is shown in the album in uniform & bkepi as a member of Company E, 3rd Infantry Regiment New Hampshire. Opposite the album page image showing the Carte de visite of Private Marquis you will see other cdv images of this Regiment including the Sergeant Major and 1st lieutenant. Private Marquis is found in the album post war including images of other Holt family & friends such as Sara Holt wife of Marquis, Emma Parkes, Flora Holt daughter of Marquis & Sara Holt, John K.
Wells daughter Mary Wells, Charles & Sarah Wells, Archie Ogden (Female), John Southworth " Jack", Miss Lovejoy, Annie Holt wife of Clark etc.. The photographs consist of cdv's and tintypes while being housed in a gorgeous leather bound album with Porcelain bumpers, Gold Leaf inlay and Gilt edging. Both boards and spine are in very good condition showing light wear. Other images that are included with this album show Marquis an aged gentleman and later a elderly man, the same applys in regard to wife Sara. These images consist of Cabinet Cards and other photographic mediums.
