1/9th Plate Tintype Photo Civil War Union Cavalry Officer Armed w/ Union Case Used. Very cool Antique 1860s Civil War period Tintype Photograph. Subject: Well seasoned Union Cavalry Officer in Uniform and Hardee Hat. Tucked in his belt is a nice Bowie knife and a revolver. Bowie knife has a decorated guard & pommel (likely German silver) with either ivory or MoP scales, and looks very Sheffield to me.

His shoulders and buttons are nicely accented with gilt. Comes in a 1/9th Plate Thermoplastic Union Case, Berg 3-298 Geometric. Manufactured by Littlefield, Parsons & Co. Great addition to your collection! NOTE: Last photo is a high definition Scan of the tintype to show the detail upclose. The tintype itself shows some mild scratching and some light dust from age. The brass mat & preserver show some mild spots of patina. The Union case shows some light scratching on both sides, and some light chipping along the edges.
