Civil War Photo 1/9th Ambrotype Armed Soldier Revolver & Rifle w/ Union Case VN Used. Excellent Civil War Period Photograph. Type: Clear Glass Ambrotype with Lacquered Back. Held in Brass mat, preserver and protective glass.
Subject: Handsome Young Soldier sitting in uniform holding his rifle, his revolver tucked in his belt. Light gilt on the buckle, buttons and cap. Case: Thermoplastic, Scattered Flowers (Berg 2-95 Scarce). Includes a small paper behind image with what appears to be a poem about the man.
Fantastic Addition to Any Photograph and/or Civil War Collection! Please Note: We have recently acquired a large collection of Civil War Images, 19th Century Thermoplastic "Union" and other Cases, and other various 19th Century Images. Image shows some mild scratching and specks which lightly impact the subject.
Lacquer on the back is cracked and flaking but largely remains intact. Brass mat and preserver show light patina, preserver has typical bending. Case is in very good condition as well.
Minor fleabite chips along the exterior edges, moderate wear to the inner pad. Hinges are slightly loose but hold well. Also, if you need the item faster we can work with you! Just give us a shout!
