This is truly one of the finest antique lockets that we have seen and is absolutely museum quality!!! Within the locket is an original Civil War portrait miniature of a handsome soldier. This is a daguerreotype or an ambrotype. The reverse is a floral motif that looks like pietra dura, or inlaid stone work. The locket itself is a magnificent work of art. The locket swivels so that there are images on both sides and they can be swiveled to show either side on the front. The mechanism for this is just stunning! The locket portion has a braided gold edge on both sides. The locket has a c-clasp pin.

The gold tests for 10-12K gold. This magnificent jewel dates to the Victorian era, c1860. It is a very rare and early Victorian jewel and is of the very highest quality - A real treasure! The locket is in superb condition.

The gold work is all in excellent condition. The portrait can be removed or you can add one of your own to the reverse. This should be done by your jeweler.

The locket has an early c-clasp pin. The glass locket portion is all intact. The locket is 2 1/8 inches (55 mm) long and 1 5/8 inches (43 mm) wide. It tests for 10-12K gold.
