For sale is a very nice Civil War grouping. The Civil War Soldier Photo Photo and Discharge Papers are identified as William L Lippincott. William Lippincott was a blacksmith in Salem New Jersey.
On August 30, 1862 he enrolled in the 24th Regiment of the New Jersey volunteer Infantry. William was wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg by a shell strike on his right side and was taken to the Georgetown hospital in Washington DC on December 13 1862. He was discharged in June 29th 1863 just 2 days before the battle at Gettysburg. The photo of William L Lippincott is in good condition with some minor flaws. The Soldier can be seen holding one sword with another sword on his side.
His infantry insignia can be seen on his hat. The photo was taken by Good & Strokes in Trenton New Jersey. The photo book is from William Lippincotts brother-in-law. A CTV photo of Abraham Lincoln and his son was gifted to John Harris from William L Lippincott.
