Named Antique Civil War Era Photo 1800s Ambrotype Patrick Dixon W&A Railroad

  
Antique Civil War era ambrotype photo of Patrick Dixon. According to the previous owner, he worked for the W&A Railroad (Western & Atlantic Railroad for the State of Georgia) and eventually for the NG&M (I believe he meant M&NG RR). The photo is in a small 2 1/2" x 3" case (when closed) and is protected by glass. The case was once held closed by a clasp, but part of the clasp is missing (see last photo).

I'd say I'm about 95% sure it an ambrotype photo due to the case, but I was afraid of damaging it if I removed the photo from the case to check the back. There's a chance it could be a tintype. Antique photos is not my area of expertise. This photo was a part of the collection of Don Hutto, one of the biggest Civil War collectors in North Georgia.

Hutto collect and dig relics, but he also attended all of the local Civil War shows as a vendor. The price sticker attached to the case was Mr. Hutto's original price sticker from two or three decades ago. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs".
