1/6 PLATE CASED TINTYPE - CIVIL WAR SOLDIER - INFANTRY CORPORAL - BLUE TINTED RANKING. You are considering a very handsome tinted tintype of an Infantry Corporal. His jacket buttons were gilded and his pants have nice bone buttons for what was most likely suspenders. I have read that the blue tinting on his Corporal stripes indicate he was an enlisted infantryman. The image nicely resides in a full paper over wood case.

The sixth plate tintype contains super contrast, tonal range, sharpness and nice hand tinting. The image has nice bluish hand tinting on his jacket.

The image contains the original mat marks that follow the shape of the existing mat. The case has a restored leather hinge, the single working clasp and a fantastic warm toned pillow adjacent to his likeness. An amazing piece of American Civil War history. Several other Civil War tintypes.
