Civil War, CDV, Fitzhugh Lee, CW General & Gov. VA, signed, Nephew of R. E. Lee
Fitzhugh Lee was a Civil War General and was the 40th Governor of Virginia among other things, read his bio online. The cdv is 2.12" X 3.5" on card 2.5" X 4". Some soil and a couple of tiny glue tears left side (see photo) A strong ink signature by Fitzhugh Lee which appears to be original, note the loop on the L in Lee dips slightly below the cdv onto the card. The back has a 2 cent Revenue Stamp with ink markings and turned bottom corners and right top corner edge minor tear. The text on back of card reads Stanton & Butler 79 W.
One door from Charles, Baltimore. CDV's by Stanton & Butler are considered rare and historian online states S&B were only in business together from 1867 to 1871.
